mynameisgw: FALSE. although the light youre seein came from the star hundreds, thousands or even millions of years ago, a star bout the size & mass of our sun [which is pretty common] has an average life span of ten billion years. unless youre seein a star on the edge of the observable universe [which would most likely be very very faint to the human eye], theres still a pretty good chance that the star is still alive.
